Numbers describe what hosts list and what renters pay on the Packhood marketplace, plus reference rates from publicly-listed commercial self-storage operators in the same cities."},{"section":"Sampling","body":"Each price band is the union of (a) live Packhood listings filtered by city + asset type and (b) the editorial reference data published on https://packhood.com/storage-prices/<city>. Listings are deduplicated by host. Rates are normalised to a calendar-monthly figure even when the host lists weekly or per-night."},{"section":"Aggregation","body":"For each (city, asset) pair we report monthlyMin (10th percentile of listed rates), monthlyAvg (median of band averages — robust to long tails), and monthlyMax (90th percentile). City-level averageMonthly is the median of asset-band averages, never the mean."},{"section":"Outlier handling","body":"Listings priced more than 3× the city median for the same asset are treated as outliers and excluded from band computation. The full unfiltered distribution is retained internally for audit, but the public bands always use the trimmed series."},{"section":"Currency","body":"Each row carries a currency code (EUR for IE/NL, GBP for GB). We do not cross-currency normalise — interpreting Irish rates against UK rates requires the reader to apply their own FX conversion. It is a reference point for the cost gap, not a like-for-like quote."},{"section":"Privacy","body":"No host-identifying data leaves the dataset. Per-listing rates are aggregated to city × asset bands; individual listings, hosts, renters and bookings never appear.
